Celtic file official paperwork as another senior exit confirmed
Celtic have confirmed former chairman Peter Lawwell has left his role as a director at Parkhead.
A Companies House submission on Monday (5 January) revealed Lawwell’s position on the Celtic board has now been officially terminated.
Celtic announced Lawwell would step down last month, citing “abuse and threats” from fans as a key reason behind the decision.
The 66-year-old, who operated as the Hoops’ chief executive between 2003 and 2021, spent three years in the role of chairman.
Non-executive director Brian Wilson has replaced Lawwell on an interim basis until a permanent appointment is made at Parkhead.

Celtic fans have heavily criticised the club’s board in recent months for their decision-making behind the scenes, with the on-field results also taking a dip.
Shareholders protested at the latest AGM in November, causing it to be abandoned an hour into proceedings following chants of “sack the board”.
Lawwell’s decision to step aside hasn’t eased the pressure on the Glasgow giants’ hierarchy, with fans still calling for a mass overhaul.

The Hoops’ board now consists of chief executive Michael Nicholson and chief financial officer Christopher McKay alongside non-executive directors Desmond, Wilson, Thomas Allison, Sharon Brown and Brian Rose.

In another major update, Wilfried Nancy has been sacked as Celtic manager following a disappointing spell in charge of the club.
The French boss only joined the Hoops from Columbus Crew last month, but six defeats in eight games have seen him relieved of his duties.
Celtic’s 3-1 defeat against Rangers in the Old Firm derby at Parkhead on 3 January proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Nancy.
Martin O’Neill, who previously operated as interim boss following Brendan Rodgers’s departure in October, has been appointed until the end of the season.
The Hoops are at risk of failing to retain the Scottish Premiership title for a fifth year in a row, having fallen six points behind leaders Hearts in the table.
O’Neill is now preparing his side to take on Dundee United at Parkhead on Saturday (10 January).
