Celtic given June deadline to pull off huge transfer coup – report

Celtic have been given until the middle of June to sign Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal from PSG, according to a report.

The Daily Record claims that the Hoops have until June 16th to complete the deal which would bring the 20-year-old to Glasgow on a permanent basis.

The striker was a big hit with Hoops fans last season, scoring 11 goals including three against bitter rivals Rangers.

He missed the end of season Scottish Cup Final against Motherwell with a hamstring injury but fans will be delighted if a deal can get done to keep the player on a permanent basis at Parkhead.

Football Insider verdict

This would be a huge coup for the Hoops if they were able to get the deal done to keep the Frenchman in Glasgow for the next few seasons. He hasn’t scored a lot of goals, but such has been his performances when he has played that he is well-worth persevering with, particularly when you consider than he is only at the very start of his career, and he hasn’t yet really got going as a player. Where this leaves the future of the likes of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths remains to be seen, but that is not a problem for Edouard, who has the chance to establish himself in Scotland then potentially get a move to a ‘bigger’ team in a few years time, if he continues to play as well as he has done for the Hoops. If the Hoops board are willing to pay the money required for the Frenchman he will be a big part of the side next season, and it looks like exciting times ahead for Hoops fans.
