Celtic handed title boost after what I’ve seen from James Forrest – expert
James Forrest looks back to his best for Celtic ahead of the final eight games of the Premiership season, according to Alex McLeish.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager suggested the Bhoys could lean heavily on the 30-year-old in their title push.
Forrest scored his first league goal of the season in Sunday’s 3-1 win away at Livingston.
It was the Hoops’ first win away at Livi since 2007.
McLeish insisted Forrest’s performance and getting the win over a “bogey” team would be a major boost for Ange Postecoglou’s men.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Forrest, definitely, is a great player at this particular stage of the season for Celtic.
“He’s come through and looks like he’s back to the form that we know he’s capable of. Hopefully, he’s got rid of all the injuries that have been very difficult for him over a longer period of time.
“I can never forget the contribution he made when we (Scotland) beat Israel at Hampden Park, his brilliant hat-trick. The goal he scored at the weekend was typical Forrest.
“I know Livingston had a decent record against Celtic there. They had one or two chances but Celtic really, really dismantled them well.
“Celtic hounded them and pressed them from the front. They caught Livingston on the ball and scored a couple of goals.
“That was a real fillip for Celtic, that victory, because it kind of got rid of the bogey of Livingston. Them being a thorn in their sides was absolutely taken care of.

“They are on a good run of form. Rangers are going to have to win every game.”
Forrest has played 27 times across all competitions for Celtic this season.
