Celtic icon raves over ‘wonderful’ Greg Taylor development – ‘I’ve never seen anything like it’

Frank McAvennie has hailed Greg Taylor after a run of “wonderful” performances for Celtic.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has been left impressed with the new role the left-back is thriving in.

Taylor, 24, played the full 90 minutes in Celtic’s 2-0 win against Ross County on Sunday (24 April).

Hoops fans raved about his performance on social media and made note of his wild celebrations after Jota prodded home his side’s second.

McAvennie admits Taylor looks like he is loving life at Celtic and insists the left-back position is now his to keep.

“Taylor’s done fantastic,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s playing in this system where Ange has him playing almost as a centre-forward at times.

“I’ve never seen anything like it, I can’t get used to it. But that’s where he does his best work, he’s wonderful when he’s up there.

“I’ve always questioned him defensively but he’s been very good recently, there is a reason he plays every game.

“He’s another one who has improved so much this season. I think that position is his now.

“I just love the fact he gets so high up the pitch. I reckon he enjoys that as well.”

Taylor has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

He has built up a profitable partnership with Jota on the left-hand side of the Hoops attack.
