Celtic idol ‘delighted’ after update on Moritz Jenz’s future

Frank McAvennie has suggested Moritz Jenz will commit his future to Celtic by signing a long-term contract at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Ange Postecoglou’s side have found the strong centre-half they were looking for in the 23-year-old.

As quoted by The Sun (13 August), Jenz revealed that he wants to stay at Parkhead “long term”.

The defender has impressed in his two appearances for the Hoops to date, in which he has scored twice.

Jenz was forced off the pitch with an injury in the second half of Sunday’s 5-0 victory over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

However, as quoted by The Herald (14 August), Postecoglou said the injury does not look like “anything serious”.

On 19 July, Celtic confirmed the signing of Jenz from Lorient on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy.

McAvennie suggested the centre-back will want the Hoops to take up the option to buy.

Jenz has already said he wants to stay beyond his loan period,” he told Football Insider.

It just shows you the influence of the fans. That can only be good for Celtic.

And he looks the part. I’m delighted. I kept saying last year that they needed a strong centre-half and he looks as if him and [Cameron] Carter-Vickers is going to be a good partnership.
