Celtic idol identifies ‘biggest problem’ after Sead Haksabanovic reveal
Frank McAvennie has claimed not taking their chances has been the “biggest problem” for Celtic this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker hailed the Celts’ progress over the last year but insisted it is not quite enough.
As reported by the BBC (11 October), Ange Postecoglou’s side racked up 16 shots and an expected goals of 1.75 in the 2-0 Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig.
The loss on Tuesday equalled the longest run of home defeats by a team in the competition since Monaco were beaten in seven home games in 2017-18.
As quoted by the Daily Record (8 October), Sead Haksabanovic said the team might need to do extra shooting and finishing practice.
Celtic have just one point from four games in the Champions League and have scored just two goals in those outings.
When asked what the Green and Whites’ biggest problem has been, McAvennie told Football Insider: “The biggest thing was creating chances and not scoring them.
“Celtic have always had people to score goals. It would be a different discussion if they took their chances.

“From where they were last year to now, it is night and day. Everyone is complaining because they got knocked out of the Champions League with the amount of chances they have had. One against Real Madrid, I was there and I was so proud of them.
“It could have been a completely different story. They could have been through already if they had taken their chances. The game is all about taking chances.“
