Celtic idol issues emphatic Jota claim

Frank McAvennie has claimed Celtic star Jota is the best player in Scottish football.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Hoops striker said the 23-year-old causes “so many problems” for other teams.

Jota played the full 90 minutes for the Bhoys on Saturday (6 August) as they beat Ross County 3-1 in the Scottish Premiership.

The winger provided the assists for all three goals.

As revealed by WhoScored (6 August), Jota also boasted 83 per cent pass accuracy and two shots in the Scottish champions’ win at Victoria park.

When asked if Jota was becoming one of the best players in Scottish football, McAvennie told Football Insider: “There will not be many Celtic supporters who will disagree with me when I say, when he is on form he is the best.

There were slack times last year where he was coming in and out of games, but he’s got this ability to get the ball in places where you think he shouldn’t be getting it.

He’s comfortable when he’s under pressure and that’s a wonderful thing for a footballer because he causes so many problems.

Celtic

I would think he will be the most fouled player in Scotland this year that’s for sure because if you want to stop Celtic you’ve got to stop him.

If he plays week in week out and produces every week then he’s going to be an asset.
