Celtic idol slams Nick Walsh amid ‘crazy’ refereeing claim
Frank McAvennie has slammed the decision to give Nick Walsh ‘big games’ to referee for Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker insisted VAR will not “make any difference” in Scotland, particularly for the Parkhead club.
The whistler has taken charge of four games for Rangers this season of which they have only been on the losing end once.

Walsh has refereed 17 Bears games in total and they have only lost one of those games, averaging almost 2.6 points per game compared to the Celts’ 2.36 points average when Walsh is in charge.
McAvennie insisted Walsh should not be put in charge of “big games”.
“I am all for people doing a job but Walsh works with Rangers players and now he is a referee,” he told Football Insider.
“It is crazy, it baffles me. I would love to say he is impartial but some of his decisions, whether it is right or wrong, he is going to get pelters for it because of that.
“They should just not give him the big games. It just shows you VAR is not going to make any difference up here. People are still going to argue.
“It is the same people on the pitch that are not giving Celtic anything that will be looking at the screen.“

The Celts were awarded their first penalty since April in the 3-0 win over Livingston on Sunday (30 October).
As quoted by the Scotsman (23 October), Ange Postecoglou bemoaned his side’s lack of penalties and claimed the only spot kicks his players have taken have been in training.
