Celtic legend slams Rangers fans after Kemar Roofe claim – ‘what planet are they on?’

Rangers would not have won the league last season even if Kemar Roofe was fit.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie slammed “nonsense” claims by fans that the Gers would have beaten the Hoops to the Scottish Premiership title if Roofe had remained fit all season.

The 30-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and made just six appearances in the 2022-23 campaign as a result of an ongoing problem.

Speaking about the striker earlier this month (3 June), Light Blues Michael Beale said having Roofe next season would be a “bonus”.

But McAvennie insisted the return of Roofe won’t give the Ibrox club any advantage over their Glasgow rivals.

People on social media are saying that if Roofe was fit they would have won the league,” he told Football Insider.

What planet are they on? They got beat they just have to accept it but they keep feeding this idea.

They just need to do their talking on the pitch because the more they come out with this nonsense that they are better than us but they can’t beat us.

I was annoyed that they won that game. I get the league was won by then but I would not have wanted to let them win.

I know Rangers supporters are dying to get them back to the top but they are coming out with some nonsense.

Rangers

The Gers were victorious in just one meeting between the sides last season in a 3-0 victory at Ibrox in the last Old Firm of the season.

Rangers lost three of the games between the sides, two of which were in cup games that the Hoops went on to win.
