Ryan Christie shares ambition that would end Celtic treble dream
By Amir Mir
Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has revealed ambitions of how he wants to win the Scottish Cup with Aberdeen.
The 21-year-old is out on loan at the Dons from the Glasgow club and lifting a domestic trophy with his current side would stop the Hoops from winning the treble.
Brendan Rodgers side are currently flying high in the Scottish Premiership and look well on course to lifting the top prize in record fashion.
On top of that, they have already lifted the Scottish League Cup in November when they beat Derek McInnes’ side 3-0.
The fifth round of the Scottish Cup is set to kick in again at the weekend with a number of clubs vying to make their mark in the competition.
Right-sided midfielder Christie has ambitions of going all the way with his current team as he also spoke about the prospect of meeting his parent club in the final.
“I would love to go on a Cup run with Aberdeen,” said Christie, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “That’s something I spoke to the manager about when I came here.
“It’s a big reason I came here. They want to do well in the Cup and it would be great to help the boys reach a final.
“I’m guessing the manager at Celtic wouldn’t want that, but I want to lift the Cup. Obviously, I won’t be able to play against Celtic if it comes to that.”
Christie has played two games for Aberdeen since his loan move in January, scoring one goal in the club’s last encounter against Partick Thistle.
However, the highly-rated youngster is yet to start a game for the club as he has the chance to do so on Saturday afternoon.
McInnes’ side take on Ross County away from home, while Rodgers men will host Inverness in the early game.
