Celtic news: Greg Taylor facing extended spell on sidelines after what McAvennie has seen
Frank McAvennie has claimed Greg Taylor has been found out at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Taylor wasn’t able to compete with the size and speed of players in the game against RB Leipzig last Wednesday (5 October).
As revealed by SofaScore (5 October), the 24-year-old made just one tackle in the 90 minutes he was on the pitch against Leipzig.
The Scotland international was not in the matchday squad for the Celts’ game against St Johnstone on Saturday (8 October).
He was replaced by summer signing Alexandro Bernabei for the 2-1 win.
As quoted by FootballScotland (8 October), Ange Postecoglou said Taylor was rested for the Premiership clash at the weekend in order to give Bernabei game time.
But McAvennie suggested that Taylor could face a longer spell on the sidelines after a poor performance against Leipzig.
“Every time Taylor went up the park the big full-back was marauding all the way down that wing,” he told Football Insider.
“Greg was no match for that. Every time the ball was getting flung over he was caught offside.

“It is not his fault, it is the way the manager wants to play, it is not his fault. The same as what Joe Hart said, that is the way the manager wants them to play.
“We absolutely battered Shakhtar [14 September] and never scored our chances and people will be noticing that.“
