Celtic news: McAvennie issues verdict on Ange Postecoglou agreeing huge new deal
Frank McAvennie has suggested Celtic will offer Ange Postecoglou a new contract as a “reward” for the work he has done with the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said that although there is still work to be done, fans will be “delighted” with what Postecoglou has achieved so far.
On 7 October, sources told this site that the Green and Whites have opened talks with the Australian over a new and improved contract after submitting a “huge” offer.

The 57-year-old was appointed on a one-year rolling contract in July 2021.
The Parkhead bosses are aware of interest from Premier League clubs such as Brighton and Wolves and are keen to tie down the Australian.
The Celts are planning to increase Postecoglou’s wages with a “huge” offer and are keen to insert a release clause into any new contract.
McAvennie suggested the real reason the Glasgow club want to tie down Postecoglou.
“It is not a case of tying him down long-term, it is a case of rewarding him for what he has done,” he told Football Insider.
“I think the fans are delighted with what he has achieved so far. Sometimes we would like to see him be a bit more wise in defence, but he is not interested in defence. The players will be used to that.
“They are doing so well but they are not a team yet.“

Celtic are currently top of the Scottish Premiership.
They have 27 points from ten games in the Scottish top flight.
