Celtic news: Postecoglou told to axe Greg Taylor and start brilliant ‘kid’ instead – expert

Ange Postecoglou should drop Greg Taylor and give Liam Scales a run in the Celtic side.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 23-year-old’s development.

Scales has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Celtic this season, mainly at left-back.

Taylor has made 22 appearances and has been Postecoglou’s left-back of choice since the turn of the year.

However, McAvennie wants to see Scales get a run in the side after pressing during his substitute appearances.

“I would give Scales a run in the team,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Juranovic is a right-back and he’s been playing left-back to accommodate Ralston.

“So if you play Juranovic where he is meant to be playing then you have either Scales or Taylor to choose from.

“I want to see Scales have a chance instead of Taylor. He looks good and he needs game time.

“Taylor hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire lately and Scales has looked really bright when he has been in.

“I get Ange will want to play his strongest players but Scales will do a job against those weaker teams.

“I really like the look of him and he’s still a kid so fingers crossed we get to see him over the next few weeks.”

Celtic are next in action against Hibernian on Sunday (27 February).

They are looking to bounce back after Thursday’s (24 February) loss to Bodo/Glimt.
