Celtic news: Pundit drops ‘huge’ verdict on title race latest – ‘This is a real challenge’
Celtic are “confident” of winning the title despite Rangers going level on points at the top of the table.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed that the pressure is firmly on the Hoops after Rangers closed the “huge” points gap, but insisted that their experience dominating titles in recent seasons could give them the edge.
Philippe Clement’s side secured a 3-1 win against Ross County on Wednesday (14 February) which put them level with Celtic on points and goal difference.
Celtic suffered major blows, including their 1-1 draw against Aberdeen on 3 February and consecutive league defeats to Kilmarnock and Hearts in mid-December, which allowed Rangers to close the gap.
Celtic and Rangers battle: ‘All the pressure is on Rodgers’
While Hutton admitted that the Hoops have been far from their best, he was confident that the title race was still in their hands.
“I think all the pressure is on Celtic now that Rangers are level,” he told Football Insider.
“At the end of the day, they are champions and had a huge lead on Rangers.
“It’s now been clawed back, so Celtic are under immense pressure.

“They need to step up, but they’re champions for a reason – it’s still in their hands.
“They have done it for a long time so they’ll be feeling confident in that respect.
“They’re not playing at their peak at this moment in time, but this is a real challenge that they’re going to have to deal with.”
