Celtic news: Pundit issues ‘100 per cent’ Aaron Mooy claim after confirmed news
Alan Hutton has claimed Aaron Mooy is a “really good player” who will settle in quickly at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender is “100 per cent” sure that Mooy’s relationship with Ange Postecoglou was pivotal to the transfer.
Celtic confirmed (19 July) the signing of Mooy, 31, alongside a loan deal for Lorient defender Moritz Jenz.
Mooy put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Scottish champions.
The Australian international joins the Glasgow club from Chinese side Shanghai Port.
The midfielder also spent two years at St Mirren from 2010 until 2012.
When asked if the Australian connection would have played a role in Mooy’s decision, Hutton told Football Insider: “Of course it will, 100%.
“Thinking back to when I was a player, if I was going to a team where I knew the manager and I’d worked under him before, where he knows what you’re all about, it always helps you settle in a lot faster.

“I don’t think we can kid ourselves he’s a really good player, he’s shown that over the years. He went abroad he’s probably looking to come back and I think just knowing that you know the manager so well after playing under him in the Australian league, you know what you’re getting from him.
“Another attacking midfielder in, they’ve got a lot of options in that area now, so I think that could be a good signing for Celtic.“
