Celtic on course to smash club record – Keith Wyness
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has backed Celtic to record another season of record revenues thanks to their Champions League displays.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Hoops have a “chance to kick on” after their historic 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in the league phase opener last week.
Celtic enjoyed their biggest-ever Champions League win against the Slovakian side at Parkhead, sending them second in the table behind Bayern Munich.
The Glasgow giants will bank £1.8million in prize money for that win alone and face seven more league phase games.
Celtic posted their 2023-24 accounts earlier this month (16 September), revealing their revenue rose from £119.9million to a new club-record £124.6million – marking a 3.9% increase on the previous year.
Celtic on course to bank record revenue after £1.8m Bratislava win, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We’ll see that increase again for this season.
“The new Champions League format will play a big part in that.
“Celtic have had a good start already against Slovan Bratislava.

“The team is performing well, Brendan Rodgers seems happy. They’ve got a good draw and a chance to kick on.
“If they do that, there’s big money in this format. Celtic should have a great season both on and off the pitch.”
