Celtic plan to accept Adam Montgomery offer – sources

Celtic will listen to offers for left-back Adam Montgomery this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Montgomery spent the first half of this season on loan at English League One side Fleetwood Town before joining Motherwell in January.

The 21-year-old doesn’t have a long-term future with the Hoops and is not part of Brendan Rodgers’s plans moving forward.

The Glasgow club are now looking to cash in on the Scotsman before his contract at Celtic Park expires in June 2025.

Adam Montgomery heading for Celtic exit this summer

It’s been an incredibly disappointing season for Montgomery with both Fleetwood and Motherwell.

The defender only featured six times for the English League One club before returning north of the border in January.

Montgomery played just once for Motherwell before picking up a serious hamstring injury that saw him return to Celtic to continue his rehabilitation.

It now looks increasingly likely he will be leaving the Hoops permanently this summer after failing to make an impression in Glasgow.

Since coming through the club’s academy, Montgomery has only made 20 senior appearances at Celtic Park, most of which came under former boss Ange Postecoglou back in the 2021/22 campaign.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers

The left-back has since spent time out on loan at fellow Scottish Premiership sides Aberdeen and St Johnstone, but neither spell aided his first-team aspirations at Parkhead.

Rodgers appears to have made his made up on Montgomery and will look to move him on once the transfer window reopens.

That could potentially provide the Hoops boss with some more cash for new recruits and hand the Scotsman a fresh start elsewhere.
