Boyata looked a bit off the pace at times and that may be a bit of a side-effect after playing so much despite not long coming back from serious injury.
Rodgers needs a new centre-back in the summer because Boyata is completely undroppable at the moment, no matter what form he may be in with Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko still out.
Boyata will have to be rested this weekend otherwise he will be destroyed by Bayern Munich’s attack next week in the Champions League.
Kilmarnock on Saturday will be the best chance to give the Belgian a time-out but that would still be a bit of a risk.
