Celtic player ratings v Albion Rovers: Senior player is 4/10
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Football Insider rates the performances of each of Celtic’s players during their 3-0 win against Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
Craig Gordon 6 – Was rarely called into action across the 90 minutes. Very much an afternoon off for the experienced goalkeeper.
Cristian Gamboa 6 – The attacking full-back looked composed in defence while whipping in a number of threatening balls. Was unlucky that his teammates couldn’t benefit from his attacks.
Mikael Lustig 6 – Gave a confident display on Sunday afternoon. Didn’t have too much work to do, but ensured that he was switched on when necessary.
Dedryck Boyata 7 – Looked assured in his side’s back line. His physicality meant he was rarely beaten in the air, while he also helped his side push up the pitch with some nice footwork.
Kieran Tierney 7 – You would not have believed this was the 19-year-old’s first appearance since 23 October. The full-back made a number of good attacking runs and picked out Sinclair well for the opener.
Scott Brown 7 – Battled strongly in the centre of the park for Brendan Rodgers’ team. Ensured that his team won back possession, while providing Albion Rovers with little opportunities going forward. Provided a nice ball for Dembele to bag home for the second.
Stuart Armstrong 8 – Performed well in his side’s midfield and looked to make things happen from his position in the centre of the park. Was rewarded with his side’s third goal.
Nir Bitton 4 – The senior player had his chance to prove his worth in the Hoops’ midfield, but failed to create anything while being limited to long range shots which came to nothing.
Scott Sinclair 8 – The most lively of the Celtic attack with his pace and trickery. The former Manchester City man showed his class on Sunday, opening the scoring with a fantastic strike.
James Forrest 6 – Was causing problems down the right flank, but he was ultimately unlucky that his efforts came to nothing.
Moussa Dembele 6 – The 20-year-old was fairly anonymous during the game, but he closed the game in the second half, bagging his 20th goal in a Hoops shirt.
