COMMENT By Will Butcher
Celtic began their defence of a domestic treble with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Hearts in their Scottish Premiership opener at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon.
Brendan Rodgers watched on as his side eased to victory despite being without the likes of Dedryck Boyata, Erik Sviatchenko and Moussa Dembele who were sidelined with injury.
The former Liverpool and Swansea manager made the surprising decision to leave out both Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic, while Nir Bitton was handed a start at centre-back.
Leigh Griffiths scored his first league goal of the season after a superb pass from Nir Bitton, while Scott Sinclair bundled home a corner and Griffiths was on hand to head home a third. Callum McGregor notched up a fourth after good work by Sinclair.
Celtic dominated for the entire match, with Scott Brown and Oliver Ntcham controlling possession in the middle of the park and were it not for Hearts goalkeeper Jack Hamilton, the score would have been far more embarrassing.
Here, Football Insider rates the Celtic players as they strolled past Hearts and secured their first three points of the season, with a quartet of Hoops starts getting 9/10.
