Five new signings, one is rapid Ireland international: Celtic possible XI on first day of 18/19
COMMENT
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has done a brilliant job at Parkhead, winning every domestic trophy available in almost two full seasons and overseeing a British record unbeaten run.
That being said, the Northern Irishman has had his critics for his decisions in the transfer window, mainly by not improving on a defence that is a clear weak-link in the Hoops team.
One thing that Rodgers should be lauded for is how he has been able to keep hold of some of Celtic’s best players.
Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong are among those who have been linked with a move south of the border ever since Rodgers arrived at Parkhead, however this summer he may have to say goodbye to the French forward.
Offloading Dembele should provide Rodgers with enough money to really improve his side.
The money picked up because of the sell-on clause in Virgil van Dijk’s £75million move to Liverpool should also be a boost for the Bhoys.
That could lead to their being as many as five new signings in the Celtic starting line-up for the first day of next season, with players like Dembele and Scott Sinclair not included.
Here, Football Insider names the 11 players that could feature on the first-day of the 2018/19 campaign.
