Dr Dan: Celtic ‘reputation’ on the line amid multi-million pound development
Celtic are at risk of reputational and financial damage as a result of their impending multi-million pound lawsuit.
So says finance expert and new Football Insider columnist Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively about the Celtic Boys Club case.
The Times reported on 19 November that further alleged victims of historic abuse spanning decades have joined the legal action.

Celtic have always maintained that the now-defunct Boys Club was a separate entity and that they too are appalled by the abuse allegations.
The Scottish Sun reported on 18 November that more than 30 people are seeking damages in the multi-million class action-style lawsuit.
Plumley claims that Celtic’s standing within football could suffer along with their bank balance if they are unable to successfully defend themselves.
“The two go hand in hand,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“If you suffer reputational damage, it will at some point transfer into financial damage. That tends to be the way these things go.
“There is a wider issue at play, of course, in terms of the case itself. We have seen recently what has happened at Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

“There is a bigger story here in terms of what has happened at that club. But sponsors have pulled out and income has been removed as well.
“At some point, that reputational damage is always going to put Celtic at risk of financial damage on top of that.”
