Celtic set sights on signing Mathias Kvistgaarden – sources

Celtic have set their sights on signing Brondby IF forward Mathias Kvistgaarden in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Celtic scouts are continuing to “keep tabs” on the 22-year-old.

The striker himself has suggested that he would be interested in a move away to a new league for a fresh challenge, and the Hoops are long-term admirers of him.

The striker has scored 13 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions this season which has seen him gain plenty of admirers around Europe.

If a deal isn’t possible in January then the Scottish giants are prepared to be patient and look at seeing if he could be signed next summer.

It is believed that Brendan Rodgers has a strong enough squad to compete on all fronts if there are no injuries between now and the end of the season, but further strength in depth is something he’s looking to secure.

Rodgers wants to enhance his squad if possible to give his team the best chance of succeeding on all fronts, especially in Europe.

The Scottish giants are currently 20th in the Champions League table after the opening five games.

Another player that the Hoops are monitoring is Motherwell teenager Lennon Miller, who is catching the eye of numerous teams.
