Medical expert fears Josip Juranovic’s season is over after Celtic news
Josip Juranovic may not play for Celtic again this season if his hamstring injury is indeed on the higher end of the spectrum.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Jurnovic, 26, was forced off with 20 minutes of normal time remaining in the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers last Sunday (17 April).
The Hoops have not yet provided an update on the condition of the Croatian full-back, who signed from Legia Warsaw in August last year.
But footballscotland reported yesterday (21 April) that Juranovic will struggle to regain fitness before mid-May.
This injury timeframe would be consistent with a relatively serious hamstring problem, explains Dinnery.
“In a best-case scenario, it is a niggle,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But with hamstring injuries, you can’t take any risks and you can’t be 100 per cent certain.
“Due to the dynamic nature of football and the fact that they were playing in a derby against Rangers, the testosterone and adrenalin were pumping.
“It would be easy to push yourself too far and put your body on the line in that highly charged environment.
“The hope is that it has been fairly minor, maybe 10 to 14 days. If it is something slightly worse, we could be talking 14 to 28.
“If we’re looking at the higher end of that scale then that is a concern as it does put the rest of his season in some doubt.”

Juranovic, who can play on either side of the defence, has chipped in with five goals and two assists in 35 outings for Celtic in 2021-22.
He may now miss this season’s final Old Firm clash next Sunday (1 May) as Celtic look to protect their six-point lead atop the Scottish Premiership.
