Medical expert: Tom Rogic may have ‘bone damage’ after ‘worrying’ Celtic update

It is possible that Tom Rogic has suffered “bone damage” tp his ankle at Celtic.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Rogic, 29, hobbled off half an hour into the Hoops’ eventual 4-0 win against Ross County on Saturday (19 March).

Per the Scottish Sun yesterday (21 March), Ange Postecoglou revealed that Rogic “got a knock on his ankle” but that “we think it isn’t too bad.”

But as relayed in the same report, the attacking midfielder has pulled out of the Australia squad for their two upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Australia are still in with a shot of automatic qualification for Qatar as they round off their qualifying campaign against Japan and Saudi Arabia.

And Dinnery suggests that the fact Rogic has withdrawn from the squad for two crucial matches does not bode well.

“It’s a difficult one,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“Sometimes players will withdraw from their national team but miraculously recover in time for their next domestic fixture.

“But to give some context, there is a massive disparity between those who withdraw from competitive and non-competitive games.

“Australia are involved in World Cup qualifiers. That in itself is a worrying indication we may be looking at something more serious than first thought.

“If it was an impact injury, it could be heavy bruising or a contusion around that ankle. In that case, it could be a case of pain management.

“That would be around that 10 to 14-day period. But the worst-case scenario is that there could be bone damage revealed by an X-ray.”

Rogic has registered five goals and 10 assists in 42 outings this season.
