Celtic tipped to accept Rocco Vata offer after Sky reveal – pundit
Celtic have been told to tie down Rocco Vata to a long-term deal before sending him on loan next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton said the Hoops wouldn’t be open to suitable offers for Vata to leave on a permanent basis.
According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, the 18-year-old is attracting interest from a number of clubs in Italy, England and Belgium.
Vata broke into the first team last term and made four appearances totalling 39 minutes of action.
The midfielder’s contract at Parkhead runs until 2024 after graduating from the youth academy to the B team in 2021.
Hutton insisted the Hoops will need to be careful when deciding Vata’s future.
“I think he is a player that is highly rated, he obviously broke into the first team last season, he definitely looks like one for the future and someone who could cope with the pressure.
“Ideally if he is not going to be a mainstay in the first team you would want to sign him to a long-term deal and then send him out on loan.
“I think that is what they would try and do with somebody who has only got a year left unless an offer comes in that Celtic feel they can’t turn down.
“You do not want players that you have brought through to leave on the cheap. I think in an ideal situation you would want him to sign a long-term deal, go out on loan and then come and try to force his way into the squad.“
