Celtic told to accept offers for six stars with Siegrist and Scott Bain to go – expert

Celtic need to “get rid” of both Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain and sign a new first-choice goalkeeper.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops and West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie was adamant the pair “aren’t good enough” to fill the void left by Joe Hart.

The Englishman announced he will retire from football at the end of this season, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side work to do in the transfer window to replace their undisputed number one of the last two and a half years.

Neither Bain nor Siegrist has been handed many chances for Celtic, with the former making just three appearances in the last two seasons and the latter making two.

Celtic ‘need’ a new number one goalkeeper after Joe Hart exits

McAvennie confessed that he thought Siegrist had the potential to become the club’s new long-term option, but now feels the pair are one of “half a dozen” Hoops who need to be sold.

“Get rid of the two of them,” he told Football Insider.

“They need to bring a new number one in.

“Siegrist and Bain aren’t good enough.

“I thought Siegrist was going to become the number one, but he’s been on the bench for Celtic for three years.

“It’s not what I expected – I thought he would push Joe Hart more.

“Bain is just not for me.

“He’s had his chance. There’s been a lot of players at Celtic that have been there for too long.

“He’s not going to be a first-choice, so why are you still here?

“There’s about half a dozen players like that at the club. They will all go, it will happen, for sure”.
