Celtic top priority signing revealed after deal agreed – Sources

Celtic have made it a top priority to sign a new wide player after Liel Abada’s departure, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants are eager to fill the void left by the 22-year-old as quickly as possible in the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on Thursday (7 March) that Abada completed his medical at MLS side Charlotte FC ahead of a move.

The deal was made official on Friday (8 March) with Celtic earning up to £10million from the agreement after spending just £3.5million on his signature in the summer of 2021.

Abada became unsettled at the Glasgow giants due to significant personal issues regarding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

Liel Abada replacement is now a Celtic top priority

The 22-year-old signed a new four-year contract with Celtic in September last year – one month before the conflict in his home nation escalated.

The Green Brigade, Celtic’s largest fan group, frequently displayed Palestinian flags during matches despite warnings from the club.

Abada scored 29 goals and provided 22 assists for Celtic across 112 games and Celtic now turn their attention towards finding a replacement for him in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers has used Daizen Maeda and Yang Hyun-Jun out wide in recent matches, but the Hoops boss will want reinforcements in the summer.
