Celtic unlikely to sell star any time soon as media speculation swirls – view

Celtic are unlikely to sell star left-back Kieran Tierney anytime soon despite rumours that one of the biggest clubs in the world is interested in signing the 20-year-old.

The Daily Record are reporting that Manchester United are interested in signing Tierney as boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly impressed with Tierney’s versatility as a player.

Whilst there may be some truth about Mourinho admiring Tierney as a player, the chances of the Hoops board endorsing the player’s departure in the summer seem remote at best.

For a start, selling such a key player would be weakening the team, just when the Hoops may well be looking to build a new one, with speculation surrounding the futures of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair.

There’s also the long-term deal he penned earlier this term.

The club’s supporters would react very badly to Tierney leaving as well, as many expect the youngster to stay with the Hoops for many years to come, if not the rest of his career.

If the Hoops are thinking of selling the player, his value will only increase if his performances continue to improve season on season.

The aforementioned Daily Record report claims that the Hoops are looking for at least £20million for the player, but it Tierney keeps up his great form they could add at least another £10million to that figure.

It’s all just speculation at the moment, which will no doubt intensify as the player gets better each season, but it seems likely that Tierney won’t be going anywhere for the time being.
