Celtic youngster needs another loan move with chances of first-team action slim

COMMENT

One position where Celtic are currently overflowing with players is in goals.

There is the number one Craig Gordon, number two Scott Bain, the discarded Dorus de Vries and the highly-rated youngster Conor Hazard, who spent the second-half of last season on-loan at Falkirk.

The 20-year-old is very highly thought of by the Hoops, and he signed a four year deal only last year, but the chances of him getting any playing time next season are very slim.

With Gordon and Bain battling it out to be number one, Hazard will not want to sit on the bench, especially after playing 11 times for Falkirk last season.

Which is why another loan move looks ideal for the player, perhaps to Falkirk once more or to another club in the Championship.

He is quite fortunate in a way, in that many goalkeepers don’t reach their peak until they are around 30-years-old, so he still has plenty to time to establish himself as the Hoops number one.

But for the time being, he should try and test himself with another team in the Championship, it would benefit him hugely in the long-run and give him plenty of first-team football as well.

Brendan Rodgers would also get a chance to see him in action as well, and who knows, perhaps if there is another Hoops goalkeeping injury crisis, he could be recalled and given his big chance for the Bhoys.
