Celtic have no plans to part ways with Martin O'Neill and are backing him to turn around their recent form, sources have told Football Insider.

The 74-year-old has come in for plenty of stick in recent weeks after his side's miserable run of form leading into the international break, including two defeats against Rangers.

That led the boss to suggest he could walk away from the position if he does not feel he is wanted, but since then, the club have thrown their weight and backing behid him.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Celtic are not currently planning to sack O'Neill and have not begun their search for a replacement.

Some long-term options have been considered at Parkhead, with the boss likely to leave at the end of the season anyway, but immediate options are not being assessed.

Should restults contintue to nosedive following the international break, a decision may have to be made, but both Celtic and O'Neill are happy to continue for now.

What is next for Martin O'Neill at Celtic?

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 26 September that O'Neill will see out the season at Celtic despite the mounting pressure on his position.

There is a feeling that the 74-year-old cannot be fully to blame for the club's issues, while their season has been far from bleak despite their recent results.

Expectations are high as ever at Celtic, but after seven wins from their opening eight league games, the club are prepared to back O'Neill to end their recent difficult run.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "There's nothing going on at Celtic at the minute with regard to managerial changes.

"Obviously, Martin O'Neill continues to enjoy the complete support of the Celtic board. It was O'Neill himself who indicated that he might walk away if he didn't feel he was up to it.

"But there has been no decision from O'Neill in that respect and it does now look like he will remain in charge for the foreseeable future.

"Celtic aren't looking at managerial options right now, but there are a number of viable candidates out there who would likely tick a lot of boxes if a change was to be made.

"But as things stand, Celtic are happy with O'Neill and have no plans to move on or to bring somebody else in."

Which options are on Celtic's radar?

Despite Celtic planning to stick with O'Neill for the remainder of the season, and no plans currently in place to bring in a replacement, they have considered their options.

Regardless of the manager's short-term future at the club, they will be forced into a change come the end of the season, and are doing their due dilligence.

Most recently, Football Insider revealed on 3 October that Sean Dyche has emerged on Celtic's radar as they aim to bring in an experienced and well-versed coach.

The former Everton and Burnley boss is believed to be considring his options ahead of a return to management and would be open to the possibility of joining Celtic.

Other bosses linked with the potential vacancy include Robbie Keane, who was interviewed during the summer, and Neil Lennon, who could make a shock return to Parkhead.
