Celtic have just pulled off a brilliant signing after Sky journalist's update
Celtic are set to secure the sensational signing of Mika Baur from Paderborn in the coming days after a deal was agreed.
The Hoops are set to pay an initial £4.5million for the midfielder, which could rise to £6.8m due to add-ons.
The 22-year-old is now set to travel to the UK for the medical ahead of Celtic’s Champions League registration deadline for their playoff clash.
Baur has been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead for months after impressing in Germany.
The youngster played a crucial role in Paderborn’s promotion to the Bundesliga last season, which has earned him plenty of praise.
However, before this, Baur had earned plenty of praise for his performances, with his old academy manager Thomas Stamm quick to highlight his technical skills in 2025.

Previously, Baur came through the academy of Freiburg before moving to Paderborn in 2024.
This saw him work under Stamm at Freiburg II, where he would go on to make 61 appearances and score five goals.
Therefore, when Stamm took up the manager’s job at Dynamo Dresden, the 43-year-old was quick to bring in Baur on loan from Paderborn.
Upon the deal being confirmed, Stamm told Dynamo Dresden on 17 January 2025: “I have enjoyed a trusting working relationship with Mika in the past.
“He can be an important factor for a team both on and off the pitch, always demonstrates professional behaviour, and possesses excellent technical skills.
“I am delighted to welcome him back to my team.”
This will no doubt excite Celtic fans as it shows that Baur could have a big impact in the dressing room as well as on the pitch.
Therefore, if Anthony Joseph is right about the midfielder’s impending arrival, then the Hoops may have some player on their hands.

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic will only make a move for Greg Taylor if he is content being a back-up option this season.
The PAOK defender has fallen out of favour just a year after leaving the Hoops for the Greek club.
Celtic are understood to have the necessary finances to make the deal happen, and are hoping to see their coffers boosted further by qualification for the Champions League.
However, Martin O’Neill is keen to keep Kieran Tierney as the first-choice left-back and will only bring in Taylor if he is happy to play second fiddle to the experienced defender.
