Championship manager now odds-on favourite to be sacked next after points dropped on Monday
The Championship is slowly moving towards its sixth managerial casualty of the 2025-26 season.
Ruben Selles became the first boss to be unceremoniously removed from his duties at Sheffield United back in September after a dismal start to the season.
Paulo Pezzolano then became the second to lose his job, as the Watford hierarchy opted to pull the trigger on him in early October.
Will Still was axed by Southampton in early November, before Liam Manning and Alan Sheehan were both shown the door at Norwich and Swansea respectively.
The second-tier table is as tight as ever after the final round of games in 2025, and the next managerial casualty looks like to be just around the corner.

Chris Davies odds-on favourite to be next Championship sacking
Football Insider recently revealed that Birmingham City have drawn up a shortlist to replace Chris Davies, as the pressure continues to mount on him as we head towards the New Year.
The 40-year-old successfully led the Blues to the League One title last term, and currently has them sitting well clear of relegation trouble in the Championship.
However, Birmingham’s Knighthead ownership have dreams of securing an immediate promotion to the Premier League, and as a result, the team’s six-game winless run has prompted scrutiny in the boardroom.
Davies’ men were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Southampton on Monday night, as they let a second-half lead slip to let the South Coast outfit escape with a share of the points.
| Manager | Odds |
| Chris Davies | 4/5 |
| Ryan Mason | 5/1 |
| Henrik Pedersen | 11/2 |
| Marti Cifuentes | 7/1 |
| Nathan Jones | 7/1 |
That result could be about to have major consequences for Davies, as he has now become the odds-on favourite to be the next Championship manager to lose his job.

One major bookmaker currently has the ex-Tottenham coach priced at odds of 4/5 to be the next to lose his job, with West Brom’s Ryan Mason trailing behind at 5/1.
Who could replace Chris Davies at Birmingham?
Football Insider revealed last weekend that Michael Carrick is a leading contender to take over at Birmingham in the event that Davies is sacked.
The former Manchester United midfielder took Middlesbrough to the play-offs in the 2022-23 campaign, but lost his job back in June after squandering a strong position to lead the team to 10th at the end of the season.
Carrick is undoubtedly the sort of big-name boss that would appeal to the Blues’ ownership, and he has already proved that he can get teams playing attractive, entertaining football in the second tier.
Lee Carsley has also been linked with the position in recent weeks, as he could potentially turn his back on the England U21 job to return to St Andrew’s.
However, regardless of who Birmingham choose to bring in if they sack Davies, their promotion dream is quickly fading away unless they can turn the tide in the coming weeks.
