Charlie Goode: Paddy Kenny admits ‘worry’ over Sheffield United loanee’s future
Charlie Goode has fallen down the pecking order at Sheffield United after being sent off against Blackburn.
That’s according to former Blades stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider the defender’s challenge on Reda Khadra.
In the second half of Wednesday’s (23 February) game, Khadra received the ball on the halfway line and after a quick turn, he was unable to progress after a crunching tackle from Goode.
Goode was making his full Sheffield United debut after joining the club on loan from Brentford during January.
The Blades did manage to win the game 1-0 but Kenny claims Goode will have to work hard to regain Paul Heckingbottom’s trust.
“Look, it’s reckless and it was a really daft thing to do,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s not a great impression to make on your new manager, put it that way.
“We got away with it though because we did manage to get the three points with 10 men on the pitch.
“These things happen. He hasn’t played a lot of games so his timing is probably out.
“I’m sure he didn’t mean anything by it, he wasn’t looking to hurt the player.
“My worry is that Heckingbottom can’t trust him now because he’s gone and done that.
“I think he has to work hard to get back in that team now but fingers crossed he can do it.”

Goode will be unavailable for Sheffield United’s next three Championship games.
That starts on Saturday (26 February) when the Blades travel to Millwall before home games with Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough.
