Charlie Nicholas predicts Leeds Carabao Cup clash v Leicester

By Aramide Oladipo

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas believes that Leeds United will face a difficult task against Premier League side Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.

The Yorkshire club travel to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night and Nicholas is convinced that they will fail to progress to the fifth round of the competition.

Both teams go into this cup tie after enjoying important victories on the weekend with Leicester beating Swansea City 2-1 whilst Leeds secured a 3-0 win away at Bristol City.

Although he fails to predict the scoreline between the two sides, Nicholas feels that the game will go into extra-time and he is confident that the Foxes will come out on top.

“Leeds are going well in general with their manager Thomas Christiansen doing a good job,” he said as quoted on the Sky Sports website.

“I could see them taking Leicester to extra-time but I think the Foxes ultimately have the quality to come through.”

The Whites have not faced Leicester since the 2013-14 Championship season at Elland Road where David Nugent scored a late winner to secure a 1-0 win for the Foxes.

In fact, Leeds have only won two of the last 14 meetings between the two sides in all competitions.

Leeds managed to progress to quarter-final stage of the League Cup last season where they were knocked out of the competition by Liverpool at Anfield.

The Yorkshire club last reached the final of the competition during the 1995-96 campaign where Aston Villa defeated them 3-0.
