Chelsea building warchest for mega-money Declan Rice swoop after source’s transfer reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed any money raised from the sale of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho could go towards a mega-money move for long-term target Declan Rice.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested it is “clear” the 23-year-old would favour a return to Stamford Bridge if he were to leave West Ham.
Football Insider revealed on 7 April that Juventus are growing increasingly confident of signing the Italy international this summer – with his contract set to expire in June 2023.

Chelsea are understood to have a strong interest in West Ham midfielder Rice ahead of the summer window – with Man City, Man United, and Liverpool also in the hunt.
Whelan claimed a Stamford Bridge return could be on the cards – depending on the Hammers’ quest for European football.
“They’ve chosen not to keep Jorginho around,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“That suggests to me that they’re looking for a younger player with better qualities.
“Let’s see where West Ham finish up after the season ends.
“There is bound to be a lot of speculation about Declan Rice, especially after the fantastic season he’s had.
“It’s clear he would like to come back to Chelsea and also to link up with his best mate Mason Mount.
“Any money they can get from selling him, I’m sure they’ll be putting towards a move for Rice – if he wants to leave.”
Jorginho has scored 26 goals and registered eight assists across 182 Chelsea games.
Rice is out of contract in June 2024.
