Chelsea captain Reece James reacts after Joao Felix insult to Renato Veiga

Chelsea forward João Felix has teased his Portuguese compatriot Renato Viega for his fashion style on Instagram.

The defender was an unused substitute as the Blues beat Brentford 2-1 to stay second in the Premier League on 15 December.

Despite not playing in their recent match, he is likely to start against Everton with Marc Cucurella suspended.

Veiga took to Instagram to showcase his fashion sense but Felix was not impressed. The former Atletico Madrid star commented (translated from Portuguese): “You kill fashion”.

However, Chelsea captain Reece James seemingly approved of the young full-back’s choice as he liked the picture along with Nicolas Jackson.

The £12 million defender [BBC Sport] was a signing that raised some eyebrows during a busy transfer window. They already had Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella, both high-profile signings, but Veiga has quickly proven his worth.

He has already played 16 times this season, mostly starting in the Conference League, where he has contributed two goals and one assist.

Felix has jokingly teased the defender on social media before, but this highlights the unity within the Chelsea squad, which currently sits second in the Premier League.

Though Italian coach Enzo Maresca has downplayed any title aspirations, he is now being considered a potential Manager of the Year due to the incredible turnaround in just five months.

Maresca’s ability to rotate his squad has allowed fringe players to shine in other competitions. He often makes multiple changes, but this has proven a working solution as they sit at the top of the European table.

Even though some players, like Carney Chukwuemeka, have had limited appearances and may consider leaving, the club has demonstrated they can get it right in the transfer window, with signings like Veiga.
