Chelsea complete ‘perfect’ transfer after agreeing Robert Sanchez deal – Agbonlahor

Chelsea have signed the perfect backup keeper after securing Robert Sanchez’s signature from Brighton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the Spaniard will be an ideal signing for the Blues.

The goalkeeper became Chelsea’s sixth signing of the summer window under new boss Mauricio Pochettino after completing a £25million move.

The 25-year-old has penned a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge after the Blues agreed a fee for his services.

Sanchez, who had two years left to run on his Brighton contract, was frozen out of the side by Roberto de Zerbi mid-way through the 2022-23 campaign.

With Chelsea having signed the goalkeeper, Agbonlahor believes that the former Seagull will prove to be worth competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga between the sticks.

“Sanchez is a good signing, it’s a shock that he’s got a seven-year deal but we’ve seen a lot of that at Chelsea over the last year,” he told Football Insider.

“You don’t need have two top class goalkeepers like Arsenal are trying to do.

On his day, Kepa can be very good, but I still don’t think he’s outstanding.

Some of the goals that go past him it’s like he’s got no hands when they they fly past him.

“I Like Sanchez, I do like feel under Mauricio Pochettino, he’s one that could really, really push Kepa and take that position off him, but it’s still not two world class goalkeepers.

“So I think that he’s a perfect backup for Chelsea and, you know, he can come in with injuries and be a top goalkeeper.
