‘Chelsea edge Tottenham’ in race to agree lucrative Air Jordan deal – top source

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has tipped Chelsea to beat Tottenham to a lucrative kit deal with Air Jordan.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Blues’ younger squad makes them a more attractive proposition for sponsors with an impressionable target market.

Football Insider revealed earlier this year (14 March) that Tottenham were in a position to hijack a lucrative kit manufacturer deal with Air Jordan after they held talks with Chelsea.

However, it was widely reported that a deal hit the rocks after both sides failed to qualify for the Champions League in the 2024-25 campaign.

Rumours are now picking up once again about a revival of talks ahead of the 2025-26 campaign with both sides reportedly angling to strike a deal.

Jordan have partnered with Paris Saint-Germain in recent years, a deal which has helped grow the football market share of both brands.

Chelsea squad gives them edge in Air Jordan battle with Tottenham, says Wyness

When asked which club is more likely to get the nod from Jordan, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s a hard one.

“I think, if I was the Air Jordan marketing director, I’d go for Chelsea – purely because of the young age of the squad.

“That’s an edge Chelsea have, they’re a lot more relevant to Gen Z and the target market for Air Jordan.

“Tottenham don’t have an old squad, but Chelsea are certainly younger.

“I think Chelsea just tip it.

“They’ve been the most improved team this season, and you’ve got to give them credit where it’s due.

Chelsea

“Chelsea have performed very well, and they could end up being the club chasing Liverpool.

“They’re getting their act together and I don’t think they’ll be dropping prices of their sponsorships any time soon. They’ll stick out for the price and wait for the right deal.”
