Chelsea fans explode at ‘corrupt’ decision v Liverpool as new footage analysed
Chelsea fans have labelled the referees and VAR officials “corrupt” after they were denied a penalty in their Premier League clash v Liverpool.
Enzo Maresca’s side fell to a frustrating 2-1 defeat at Anfield in a game which was shrouded by controversial decisions on both sides.
Mohamed Salah gave the hosts the lead from the spot after 29 minutes, before Nicolas Jackson equalised shortly after half-time, and Curtis Jones scored the winner in the 51st minute.
However, prior to Salah’s opener, Chelsea fans were convinced Jadon Sancho was fouled by Trent Alexander-Arnold in front of the Kop end.
Footage of the incident was quickly shared on social media, showing the right-back had stood on the foot of the Blues’ winger, but no penalty was awarded.
However, it seemingly went unchecked by VAR and unnoticed by the on-field referee John Brooks, leaving the travelling supporters astonished.
