Chelsea fans rage at ‘horrendous’ Robert Sanchez after what he did vs Brighton

Chelsea fans were less than impressed with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after his mistake led to Brighton’s opener in their 4-2 win on Saturday (September 28).

The 26-year-old went flying to try to punch away a deflection but completely missed it, catching teammate Marc Cucurella and goal-scorer Georginio Rutter in the process.

Rutter was alive in the box, sneaking ahead of Sanchez to head the visitors into the lead and score his first goal for Brighton since his £40million move from Leeds United in the summer.

Cole Palmer then scored the equaliser in the 21st minute to secure a vital point at Stamford Bridge for Enzo Meresca’s side.

Star man Palmer then popped up again, scoring from the spot to give the home side the lead before rounding off his hattrick on the half-hour mark.

The Spanish goalkeeper was then suspect yet again, passing the ball directly to Brighton’s Carlos Baleba while passing around the back who cooly finished to make it 3-2.

Thankfully Palmer was there to bail Sanchez out yet again, scoring his fourth to become the first player in Premier League history to score four goals in a first half and secure the win.

Robert Sanchez continues to frustrate Chelsea fans

Sanchez is now Chelsea’s undisputed number one under Maresca after a stop-start season under Mauricio Pochettino last term.

He has played every minute so far this season, saving a vital penalty in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth but he continues to frustrate Chelsea fans.
