Chelsea have already got replacement for departing Thiago Silva – sources
Chelsea veteran Thiago Silva has decided to quit the club at the end of his contract this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 39-year-old has decided to depart Stamford Bridge after four years in west London.
Silva has been attracting interest from his native Brazil as his glittering career winds down.
Football Insider revealed in October 2023 that Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense are ready to offer the Chelsea defender the chance to return to the club.
Chelsea are happy to let Silva depart despite his status as a firm fan favourite and a regular starter.
It is believed the Blues are planning to promote Levi Colwill into his role after his development since returning from several EFL loans in recent years.
Chelsea plan to promote Colwill after Silva exit this summer
Sources say Chelsea chiefs see Colwill as a natural successor to serial winner Silva, who lifted the Champions League with the club in 2021.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (22 April) that the London club are expecting summer transfer window bids for the England international.
But it is believed they have no intention of letting him depart despite their Financial Fair Play concerns.

Silva has made 32 appearances across all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this term – starting in 77% of their top-flight games.
He has racked up 149 outings in total since joining Chelsea on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
