Chelsea make Graham Potter sack decision today – sources
Graham Potter is set to be sacked by Chelsea ahead of their clash against Liverpool this week, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues boss is under huge pressure at Stamford Bridge, and is now set to be gone by Liverpool’s visit on Tuesday evening (4 April).
Todd Boehly was keen to have Potter spearhead his project at Chelsea following his takeover last year, but it is understood that his faith is fading and the club is already considering alternatives.
Potter was identified by Boehly and the Chelsea board as the ideal candidate to create a lasting legacy at Stamford Bridge, but the 47-year-old has struggled to settle down at the club.
Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon to drop the club down to 11th in the table.
It is believed, sources say, that the board’s stance is that Potter’s reign is coming to an immediate end.
The Blues remain in the Champions League after their last 16 triumph over Borussia Dortmund, but qualification for European football next season is looking slim with the club now 11 points adrift of the top four.
Potter joined Chelsea in September 2022, with the London club paying a record compensation fee of £22million to release him from his role at Brighton.
He made an impressive start at his new club, going nine games unbeaten at the start of October before losing 4-1 to his former club.

Chelsea have struggled for consistency ever since, and Potter’s win rate at the club now sits at 38.7 per cent after winning 12 and drawing eight of his 31 matches in charge.
Much of the pressure on Potter has been intensified due to Chelsea’s spending over the last year. The club have spent over £600million since Boehly’s arrival, including £300million of investment in the squad over January.
