‘Chelsea to reignite Alejandro Garnacho interest as major Man United exit beckons’

Alejandro Garnacho was left unhappy that he was not named in Manchester United’s lineup for the Europa League final on Wednesday, 21 May.

The Red Devils’ largely disappointing campaign has ended in heartache as they were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in Bilbao.

Ruben Amorim’s men cannot finish higher than 14th in the Premier League, even if they beat Champions League chasers Aston Villa in the top-flight’s final day on Sunday, 25 May.

Meanwhile, as reported by BBC Sport [22 May], after the Old Trafford club were beaten by Spurs in the Europa League final, Garnacho said: ” Up until the final, I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don’t know.”

Chelsea could reignite interest in Garnacho after Man United star vents frustration

The Argentina international cut a blatantly frustrated figure after the North West giants were defeated by Tottenham in the European final on Wednesday.

His comments indicate that the 20-year-old could be set on leaving Old Trafford, having fallen out of favour with Amorim in recent weeks.

Garnacho could leave United

Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown previously informed Football Insider that Amorim’s men could be willing to part company with Garnacho amid interest from Chelsea.

The Blues could now take advantage of the winger’s frustrations at Amorim and make a swoop for his services.

Garnacho could be a good signing for Chelsea

While Garnacho displayed his talent as recently as 4 May, when he notched a goal and an assist during a 4-3 defeat at Brentford, perhaps United were always going to face an uphill battle to retain his services after Amorim was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s successor.

The 40-year-old’s wing-back system leaves little room for out-and-out wingers such as the Argentina international, while fellow winger Marcus Rashford was sent on loan to Aston Villa during the winter transfer window.

On the other hand, Maresca’s tactics at Chelsea are reliant on talented widemen such as Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke, so Garnacho’s playing style could be perfect for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Even though the 20-year-old is seemingly no longer a key figure at Old Trafford under Amorim, he has still managed to notch 11 goals and 10 assists this season, showing that he could be a real asset in West London.
