Sources: Chelsea set to close midfielder signing today after talks breakthrough
Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign a new midfielder and their latest signing could be finalised by Thursday night, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League mega-spenders are confident of reaching a full agreement with a new signing later on Thursday after a breakthrough in negotiations.
It is believed the signing is a central midfielder and would be on an initial loan deal.

The west Londoners have already completed five senior signings this month after their astonishing ambush of Arsenal’s move for Mykhaylo Mudryk last weekend.
Football Insider revealed last Sunday the club are ready to bring in three more box-office signings before the window shuts as their remarkable recruitment drive goes into another gear.
One of the club’s priorities is the capture of a central midfielder who can slot straight into their starting XI.
It has been an area of weakness for Chelsea this season and senior stars N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are out of contract in the summer.
In addition to the £89m Mudryk capture, Chelsea’s astonishing recruitment drive this month has already sealed deals for Joao Felix (loan), Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana and Andrey Santos.
The Londoners have offered £26.5m for PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Mudueke.

In total, Chelsea are willing to spend over £250m on new signings this month in what is now shaping up to be a world-record January spend.
There are also likely to be some notable departures in the final 10 days of the window, with some first-teamers expected to be sold.
