Chelsea news: Pundit issues one-word Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang verdict after journalist’s transfer update
Frank McAvennie has told Chelsea to avoid the “risky” signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker doesn’t understand why the 33-year-old would want to leave Barcelona.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (8 August), Aubameyang is one of Thomas Tuchel’s targets and the Blues have begun talks with the player.
There is said to have been no direct approach to the La Liga giants yet though.
The deal is apparently dependent on Aubameyang’s price tag and salary conditions.
The ex-Arsenal man has three years remaining on his contract at the Nou Camp.
When asked by Football Insider if Aubameyang would be a good fit at Stamford Bridge, McAvennie issued a one-word verdict: “No.
“Listen he’s scoring goals for Barcelona but he didn’t do much at Arsenal so why is he going to do it at Chelsea?
“He didn’t like Arsenal and they had some decent players when he was there.
“You can’t keep moving. I think Aubameyang is a risk. He’s a good player and Barcelona got the proper Aubameyang who’s scoring goals.
“All of a sudden why is he wanting to move again? Why would you want to leave Barcelona to go to Chelsea unless there’s a problem. I would be sceptical of bringing him in to Chelsea.“

Aubameyang made 14 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League last season.
During those outings he scored four goals and provided one assist.
