Chelsea news: Pundit slams Romelu Lukaku after ‘incredible’ footage emerges

Paul Robinson has slammed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku’s “attitude and application”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper claimed the 28-year-old is showing “an unwillingness to get involved in the game.”

The centre-forward has scored just five Premier League goals this season despite a blistering start to the campaign.

Speaking post-Palace, as quoted by Metro (19 February), Thomas Tuchel confessed he does not have “a good answer” for Lukaku’s struggles.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Lukaku’s display at Selhurst Park, Robinson said: “It’s an incredible stat for a player who cost around £100million.

“To have that few touches in a game is simply not good enough. That was one of his poorest ever performances in a Chelsea shirt.

“There’s arguments that Chelsea don’t play in a way that suits him, that doesn’t involve him in the game but he has to do more. He has to get involved in the game more. Your attitude and application has to be better than that.

“To have that few touches shows an unwillingness to get involved in the game. That is not people passing him the ball. It’s him not getting involved.

“I thought Lukaku was going to be the difference for Chelsea this season, but far from it.”
