Chelsea news: Pundit ‘surprised’ by Mason Mount twist after source’s contract reveal
Alan Hutton is “surprised” Chelsea haven’t met Mason Mount’s contract demands.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said the Blues need to offer Mount “something” even if they want to sell him in order to keep his price up.
On 15 February, this site revealed that the 24-year-old is demanding parity with top earners at the club, Reece James and Raheem Sterling in order to sign a new contract.

But talks between Mount and the club are in deadlock and the Blues are refusing to budge on their most recent offer.
The England international has less than 18 months left on his Stamford Bridge contract but has been unsatisfied with the offer on the table from Chelsea.
A number of clubs would be willing to sign the midfielder in the summer, including Premier League rivals Liverpool.
When asked if Mount could quit at the end of the season, Hutton told Football Insider: “Possibly if the contract is not resolved.
“He is in to the back end of his contract so the fee will be a lot lower. I am surprised that Chelsea are not offering him what he wants to get the value up, even if they wanted to get rid of him.

“Where he stands at the moment, he probably sees all these players coming in on very good contracts, even the likes of Reece James, homegrown players who have signed unbelievable contracts. He feels he is part of that.
“I think his form has dipped so for him it is about concentrating and getting his head down and getting back to the player that we all know that he is.“
In other news, according to sources, five Chelsea first-team stars set to be put up for sale.
