‘Chelsea open the door for controversial Tottenham transfer’

Daniel Levy will be expected to open his chequebook this summer after an incredibly difficult campaign for Tottenham and an eye-catching signing could now be on.

Football Insider broke the news on Sunday, 1 June, that Ange Postecoglou is set to be sacked by Tottenham, with an official announcement expected in the following days.

This comes just 11 days after the Australian led Spurs to the Europa League title, breaking a 17-year trophy drought, and bringing many disgruntled fans back on his side in Bilbao.

However, the Lilywhites’ shocking form in the Premier League is likely to be too much to argue against his case to stay on, and any new manager will need serious backing to help boost the squad.

In a bid to help the goals flow even more, joining the likes of Son Heung-min, Dominic Solanke, and Brennan Johnson, Spurs could now agree an unlikely deal with London rivals Chelsea after the latest update at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea and Tottenham never do transfer business

Paul Robinson recently told Football Insider that Tottenham and Chelsea “don’t do business” after rumours emerged of Christopher Nkunku popping up on the former’s radar this summer.

The team’s rivalry dates back decades, and the hate shared in London was summed up brilliantly during the “Battle of the Bridge” game in 2016, in which 12 yellow cards were dished out by Mark Clattenburg as the Blues fought back to ensure Tottenham missed out on the Premier League title to Leicester.

Despite this, Spurs will be hoping that they can put their differences aside ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with a new transfer update emerging from Stamford Bridge.

According to The Guardian (2 May), the Blues are now open to offers for Noni Madueke due to a feeling that the 23-year-old’s development has stalled. Spurs are bound to be on high alert.

Chelsea are ready to listen to offers from Noni Madueke.

Spurs alerted to Noni Madueke update at Stamford Bridge

Mick Brown told Football Insider as recently as April that Tottenham were leading the race for Madueke’s signature, with the 23-year-old “open to offers” once the summer transfer window opens.

That exact scenario has emerged in West London now as his club are also open to it, and the Lilywhites must act quickly if they are to take advantage of the player’s situation and also seal a controversial deal with their rivals.

Madueke appears to be one of the most talented at Chelsea’s disposal, alongside Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo, of course, boasting 11 goals and four assists across all competitions this season.

Spurs’ squad ahead of the 2024/25 season was stacked to the rafters, but with Richarlison, Timo Werner, Manor Solomon, Mathys Tel, and Dane Scarlett all possibly leaving, he could be the perfect replacement on the right flank.

There are apparently doubts over the winger’s consistent abilities at Stamford Bridge for him to be put up for sale this summer, but if the Lilywhites can strike the right deal, it might be worth the risk.

Tottenham’s fierce rivalry with Chelsea certainly adds an entirely new dimension to the transfer, but it should not put Levy off striking a deal with Todd Boehly and Co. this summer, and may even be a valuable statement of intent.
