Finance guru: The ‘whole world will take notice’ of Chelsea as new Todd Boehly images emerge
Todd Boehly is ensuring that the “whole world takes notice” of Chelsea in his early days as the new club owner.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the American billionaire who fronted May’s £4.25billion Stanford Bridge takeover.
The 48-year-old has since installed himself as chairman and made wholesale changes in the boardroom.

As relayed by the Daily Mail last Thursday (7 July), Boehly has now been pictured in Barcelona as he takes a hands-on approach to the club’s transfer dealings.
It is understood that he is trying to thrash out a four-player swap deal which would see Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta head to Camp Nou and Sergino Dest and Memphis Depay in the other direction.
It was also widely reported that Boehly played an instrumental role in brokering Romelu Lukaku’s loan departure to Inter Milan.
Plumley argues that the new owner is making a real statement with his direct approach to running the Blues.
“This is very much in keeping with the way he approached the takeover,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“He’s gone for a fresh start from the very beginning. He wants to put his stamp on it.

“Being out in Barcelona and holding negotiations is another example of that. It seems like this is very much the strategy he wants to pursue.
“The whole world to take notice and look at Chelsea. Sterling is a marquee signing, a statement signing. I think it further indicates his plans for the club.”
